Statement on COVID-19 – 18 March 2020
The following is New Sight’s statement to all Congo staff and team members, in English and French:
The COVID-19 disease has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation. It is having a worldwide impact now. According to the Declaration from the Government on March 14 late night, there has been one imported case of COVID-19 in the Republic of Congo as of March 14, and we continue to monitor the situation closely.
New Sight will continue to encourage its staff and students to maintain healthy standards and to take appropriate precautions at all times to protect themselves, our patients and families. In addition, we continue to work closely with the local authorities and the Ministry of Health to serve the community as best as we can. Visits from overseas volunteers are being postponed until further notice.
We trust in God and have faith in His wisdom and power. Please join us in praying for everyone in the world afflicted by this disease, to face fear and uncertainty with courage and compassion.
La maladie COVID-19 a été déclarée pandémie par l’Organisation mondiale de la santé. Elle a désormais un impact mondial. Selon la déclaration du gouvernement du 14 mars en fin de soirée, un cas de COVID-19 a été importé dans ce pays en date du 14 mars, et nous continuons à suivre la situation de près.
New Sight continuera à encourager son personnel et ses étudiants à maintenir des normes de santé et à prendre les précautions appropriées à tout moment pour se protéger, ainsi que nos patients et leurs familles. En outre, nous continuons à travailler en étroite collaboration avec les autorités locales et le ministère de la santé pour servir la communauté du mieux que nous pouvons. Les visites des volontaires étrangers sont reportées jusqu’à nouvel ordre.
Nous avons confiance en Dieu et nous avons foi en sa sagesse et sa puissance. Veuillez vous joindre à nous pour prier pour que tous ceux qui sont touchés par cette maladie dans le monde puissent faire face à la peur et à l’incertitude avec courage et compassion.
