Masks Donation to Support COVID Relief

Posted on June 29, 2021 by Phoebe Chan

In the beginning of June, New Sight Eye Care represented by Siko Bambemba, presented 12 boxes containing 1,000 reusable cloth masks each to Mr. Abel Sidobe Gah, Mayor of Ouesso, to be distributed together with health authorities to the community in the La Sangha province. Held with a palpable excitement to serve our community to fight COVID-19, the ceremony was attended by our trainees and our staff Sabin and Spencer, who all helped with the presentation and the loading of the boxes for distribution.

A further 4 boxes of these reusable masks and another donation of surgical masks were reserved for our staff and trainees to use in the Interim Eye Centre and for the staff and patients in our surgical mission to Impfondo. We are so grateful to our donors and supporters for enabling us to serve our community this way and continue to offer sight-saving eye care services with precautions against COVID-19. Most of the population is feeling fatigue and getting lax with precautions, but we will continue to promote prevention in the community and ensure our staff and patients receive adequate personal protection.
