In 2022, construction began on a purpose-built eye teaching hospital in Ouesso. The eye block is due for completion soon, and next phase of construction for accommodations for staff, visitors and patient families is planned in 2024. The hospital will serve the whole region and aims to become a hub for medical outreach.
New Sight Eye Care serves in the Republic of Congo to restore and protect sight, transforming lives and communities in the region.
Why Congo? We recognise that while eye health services are inadequate in many low-income countries, they are non-existent in northern Congo. That is why we chose to start with the poorest and most neglected communities in the north of Congo.
90% of vision loss is preventable or treatable. But 480,000 people suffer from vision loss in Congo because they have no access to eyecare. We have a passion to help these people see.
Our patients have the most amazing transformations – be inspired by their stories.
