Barthelemy’s wife left him and their 4 children when he became blind, and they struggled for years to live. Later on, he and his children hid in the forest because of war, and then escaped to the Republic of Congo. In his unfortunate plight, Valentine helped his family and eventually married him. Together they went to our eye centre and he received sight-saving surgery. Best of all, he saw Valentine for the first time!
